Finding Peace in Troubled Times Matthew 24:6
“And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.” (Matthew 24:6)
We find ourselves in the middle of another war. Iran’s top leader has entered into eternity where he will face his judgement before a holy and righteous God. His murderous, tyrannical leadership has come to an end. Now our prayers should be that the Church has a new found opportunity to preach the Gospel to the Iranian people.
Sometimes it can make us feel scared and overwhelmed when we watch the news channels about all of the wars and conflicts that are taking place all around us. Some have loved ones and family members that are serving in the military or living in war-torn areas of the world. When this happens, we can become overwhelmed with fear and anxiety.
Jesus warned that conflict would be part of life in a fallen world. Wars and unrest should not surprise us — they are the natural result of humanity’s brokenness. But His command is just as clear: “See that ye be not troubled.” Even in a world filled with chaos, God remains sovereign. History is not out of control — it is unfolding according to His plan.
In a time when we constantly hear of conflict through news and media, Jesus calls us to calm faith, not fear. The instability around us is a reminder that this world is not our final home.
When we hear of wars, we are called to pray rather than panic, trust rather than fear, and remember that Christ still reigns.
While nations may shake — our Savior does not.
